Outlined below are frequenty asked questions and answers that will help make your reunion experience more enjoyable.
1. How far is the airport from the hotel?
The San Diego International airport 5 miles from The Dana Hotel and Marina.
2. Does hotel offer airport shuttle services?
No. The hotel does not offer shuttle services.  The options to get from the airport to the hotel are: Taxi, Airport Shuttle Services (Super Shuttle), or UBER.  You can review transportation shuttle options and costs on line at
3. Is smoking allowed in the rooms?
No. The Dana Hotel and Marina is a non-smoking property. No smoking is allowed on the property or in the rooms.  A $250 fee will be charged for any violations.
4. Is the luau in place of our family banquet?
The luau is our family banquet.  It will take place Saturday evening, July 15, at 5:30PM.
5. What should I wear to the luau (banquet)?
We would like the family to wear hawaiian, island-inspired, or resort attire. Wear comfortable shoes and sandals. Since this will be held in the Marina Gardens, bring a light jacket, sweater, or throw to use as the night will be a bit cooler after sunset.
6. How close to the beach is the hotel?
The Dana on Mission Bay is 1 mile from the Mission Beach and the Pacific Ocean. This is a water-front property to lovely Mission Bay.
7. Does the hotel offer a complimentary breakfast?
No.  The hotel offers an extensive breakfast buffet each day.  Roomservice is also available for those who wish to order specific breakfast items off the menu. There is a gift shop that has grab-and-go items and complimentary coffee in the lobby.  If you want to take a short walk (5 min), there is The Dana Landing, where you can get grilled to order breakfast sanwhiches. 

Denny's is a 5 minute drive from the hotel, and the Hyatt (across the street from The Dana) offers breakfast daily.
8. How close is SeaWorld to the hotel?
SeaWorld is 5 minutes from The Dana. SeaWorld offers daily shuttles to and from The Dana. You can also ask the lobby staff about discounted tickets to SeaWorld and other local attractions.
9. Will an afghan be part of the raffel this year?
Yes.  Thanks to our own Phyllis Doss, we will again have a lovely hand crocheted afghan to raffel. In addition, the following items will be included in the raffel:

1) Pottery made by our own Rita Doss-Johnson (3rd generation cousin and 91 years young); 2) A $100 The Dana gift certificate that can be applied to your hotel costs; and 3) DC Comic collectible statues valued from $100-$180 donated by own own family artist, Janice Walker.
10. What options are available if I have reunion items that I wish to mail?
Fedex, UPS, and USPS services are available at The Dana for those who desire to ship small to medium sized packages. Plesae be prepared to use a credit card for online shipping services. Some packaging materials will be provided. More details will be provided at the reunion.  The point of contact for this information is Janice Walker at 973-214-4909.
11. What are the cost of raffel tickets?
Raffel tickets will be sold for $1 each or 7 for $5.  The drawings will be held throughout the reunion at the major events.  You must be present to win.
12. Will we have a family group photo taken this year?
Yes. The family group photo will be taken on Friday before the picnic at 10AM in the Tropical Gardens of the hotel. We ask that everyone arrive at least 15 minutes early as we will begin the photo shoot on time.  PLEASE WEAR YOUR REUNION T-SHIRTS.

For those of you arriving on Friday, call LaWanna at 678-482-5589 and she will have your t-shirts available for the photo.
13. Does the hotel offer any discounts to family members attending the reunion?
Yes. The Dana offers several discounted group rates to the Walker-Doss Family.
  1. If you booked your room under the Walker-Doss Group Block, you received an extensive discount on your room whether you have a standard room or upgraded to on of the other room they offer.
  2. Children breakfast buffet prices, for those under 11, is reduced to $8.95 per person during the weekday and weekend.
  3. The resort fee, which is normally $34, was reduced to $17 for those who booked under the Walker-Doss Group Block.
  4. A Premier Pass will be offered upon check-in. This pass will afford you discounts of 25% off the Breakfast Buffet or Weekend Brunc, 25% off the Lunch Menu, and a Buy One Dinner Entree, and get a second on at 50% off.
  5. The Premier Pass offers other discounts as well.
  6. If you are interested in Sea World and other activities around San Diego, stop first at the front desk to see what specials they have available.
