Clarence Doss Community Center opened the doors on November 5, 2016 in Emerson, Arkansas. The Emerson Community Service Organization sponsored several fundraisers that helped to raise funds to build this center. Bake sales, musical programs, plays, horse rides, plate sales, personal donations and annual Christmas banquets were some of the activities which allowed the center to be built debt free. We now have a beautiful center for senior citizens and children activities. We are now in process of organizing programs to minister to our seniors.  The center allows the community to serve meals, play games, fellowship and provide after care for our children and tutoring.

The project began around June 1, 2006. I started helping with this project in September 2010 and have worked faithfully ever since. There is a wall in the center that displays the names of people that have donated $1,000.00 or more toward the building of this center.  We are still accepting donation to build an awning on the building, parking lot renovations and additional chairs for the banquet rooms. We need around 75 more chairs.

We have begun leasing the center out for private functions such as family reunion, school reunions, repasts, birthday celebrations, etc.

The officers of the center are: Supt. Larry Ferguson, President: Carlton Franklin, Vice President: Carnell Thomas, Treasurer: Cathy Shaw, Recording Secretary: Oree Johnson and Gregory Carter, Board Members.

Feel free to contact Annetta Howell (870) 949-0089, Yolanda Franklin (870) 904-9632 or Elnora Combs (870) 547-2949 for further information.

Thank you so much for your contributions. The center has been and continues to be a great asset to the City of Emerson.
